Hyerim Kim
Soprano Hyerim Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea.
In the 2026/27 season, she will perform at Neue Staatsoper Wien as Olympia in the production Karussell. She will also make her debut at the Vienna State Opera as the Queen of the Night in Geheimmission Zauberflöte. In addition, she will return to the Komische Oper Berlin for the revival (Wiederaufnahme) of Konrad oder das Kind aus der Konservenbüchse, performing the role of Konrad.
In the 2025/26 season, Hyerim Kim made her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin in the role of Konrad in Konrad oder das Kind aus der Konservenbüchse. In 2026 She joined Rolando Villazón’s 270th Mozart Anniversary Concert at the HCC Kuppelsaal in Hannover as soprano soloist.
Her recent engagements include the role of La Bellezza in Handel’s oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart in 2024. In 2023, she performed as a soloist with the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach, performing the soprano solo in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Kulturhaus Gotha. In 2022, she performed the soprano solo in Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem at the concert hall of the Berlin University of the Arts.
Hyerim Kim has received recognition at numerous international vocal competitions. In 2026, she was a finalist at the 2nd Jo Sumi International Singing Competition. In 2025, she received the Joan Cereals Special Prize for Best Baroque Singer at the Josep Palet International Singing Competition. She was a semifinalist at the Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Poland. In 2024, she was a finalist at the Eva Marton International Singing Competition in Hungary. In 2021, she received the Prize of the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach at the Gabriela Benacková International Vocal Competition. In Korea, she has also received numerous prizes at prestigious national vocal competitions.
From 2021 to 2025, Hyerim Kim was a recipient of a DAAD scholarship, awarded foroutstanding academic achievement as an international student in Germany.
Hyerim Kim began her musical education at Sunhwa Arts School and Sunhwa Arts High School in Seoul. She subsequently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance under Prof. Mihae Park at Seoul National University and her Master’s degree in Opera under Prof. Aris Argiris at the Berlin University of the Arts. She completed her Konzertexamen degree under Prof. Ulrike Sonntag at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (HMDK Stuttgart).
